Demolition and Remediation at Tacoma Frieghthouse Square

The two-block area bounded by East G Street, East 25th Street, East E Street and Puyallup Avenue is to be the future site of Pierce Transit's Tacoma Dome Transit Station.

Site work included demolishing several existing brick structures, vacating East F Street, excavating over 30,000 cubic yards of soil and on-site thermal treatment of approximately 18,000 tons of petroleum contaminated soil.

Project Performance

The project was successfully completed in two months. During that time, neither the owner nor the Puget Sound Air Pollution Control Agency received a complaint. This is remarkable considering the mobile LTTD plant operated 24 hours per day, 7 days per week directly across the street from Freighthouse Square, a popular local marketplace.
