Underground Storage Tank Removal, Refurbishment & Remediation
This contract called for the removal of an underground storage tank system, demolition and upgrade of nine fueling systems located in Fort Lewis, Washington. Specific features of work required included the following: selective above-ground and below-ground demolition of structures and utilities; surgical excavation; environmental surveys; erection and maintenance of construction barricades and signs; removal and disposal of contaminated soils; removal and disposal of concrete and asphaltic concrete debris; installation of above-ground and below-ground utilities; removal and repair of fuel piping lines; modification of existing kiosks and other structures; installation of sophisticated diagnostic controls for fuel storage and delivery facilities; and site restoration.
The project required a high level of coordination due to the variety of customers and locations affected by the work. Ooperation and maintenance training and support on the modified systems was also provided to all users.
