Demolition and Abatement at Spokane International Airport

This demolition and abatement project involved a four story wooden structure at Spokane International Airport. After removing and disposing of lead based paint and asbestos, the structure was demolished, segregated and recycled selected wood and metal materials, and the site restored.

The scope of the work included: demolition of the four story wood structure; removal and disposal of all building debris; segregation of recyclable materials; asbestos and lead paint abatement and disposal; air monitoring during demolition activities; removal and capping of all underground utilities; removal and disposal of waste oil valves; temporary and permanent fencing; environmental site survey; and site restoration.

Project Performance

Under intense scrutiny from the Owner, this project was completed on time and within budget. The fire station was located adjacent to one of Spokane International's main runways, an Aircraft Operations Area. In addition to typical site security concerns, there were stringent airport and Federal Aviation Administration requirements governing control of site access, loose jobsite debris, the flagging and beaconing of cranes, and more.
