Foundation Replacement and Soil Remediation - Mt Rainier, WA
The work performed under this contract consisted
of installation / replacement of the foundation and hearths of a historic
cabin within Mount Rainier National Park. Along with the foundation
and hearth replacement, the project also included removal of diesel
contaminated soil from under the cabin, followed by disposal of this soil at an approved facility.
Details in the Scope of Work for this project
included careful preparation for jacking and shoring of the building
3 feet above grade, installation of beams and cribbing, followed by
shoring up of the building and removal of the jacks. The of diesel-contaminated
soil was then removed from under the cabin and replaced with clean fill,
as well as removal and replacement of the visqueen barrier located in
an area adjacent to the building. Field and laboratory sampling results
from the contaminated soil were supplied to the National Parks Service,
followed by disposal and treatment receipts. The project was completed
with the securing of the building onto the newly installed foundation
and hearths.
