Petroleum Soils Remediation at Airport Fuel Facility - Spokane, WA
This petroleum soils remediation project site was located at the Spokane International Airport former fueling facility, which was impacted with petroleum contaminated soils, and in need of remediation. Specific features of work included: removal and disposal of concrete, asphalt, electrical panels, piping and appurtenances. Soil and groundwater sampling and analysis; environmental site and risk assessment; excavation, removal and treatment via thermal desorption of approximately 10,000 tons of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil. Abandoned in place several monitoring wells, piezometers and recovery sumps and complete site restoration.
Approximately 20,000 gallons of groundwater were pumped from the excavation in order to extract free product collected within the excavation, which was transported and disposed of at a licensed facility.
